about
One of my favorite qualities in a piece of music is the freedom of the listener to hear their own meaning in the song. I wrote this piece in the fall, and I sang it once a day through the winter, each time latching onto a different lyric or motif, and trying to see beyond it. I hope you can do the same. Enjoy. ★
lyrics
Red and Orange and Yellow,
And Green and Brown and Blue
The colors of the meadow,
In autumn's golden hue
And I a shot of purple
Feet stuck in the ground
I scream, I shout, I bellow
Yet no one hears a sound
Ooh, ooh dream, darling
I'll hold back the sun
Aah, aah that lonely pilgrim
Whose journey's only begun,
Whose journey's only begun
My far'way sailor,
Sings to the moon
Balancing white pebbles
On a silver spoon
King of his castle,
The moat rolls around
And now he lies here sleeping,
King of the cold, hard ground
Ooh, ooh breathe, baby
I'll hold back the moon
Aah, aah that eye of Hades
I too will be going soon,
I too will be going soon.
I too, will be going...
